Today I am celebrating our first 50 Founding Membe

Today I am celebrating our first 50 Founding Members in our Cooking Club!!!

It has been a great few months developing the course and connecting online with our teens and their families!

It is a great privilege to share my knowledge and hopefully inspire the next generation to learn to cook and be able to feed themselves healthy, delicious food!

Our membership prices will be increasing. But only later today. So you might still be able to sign up at the current prices if you are quick.

I have some special tricks up my sleeve to celebrate this milestone with our members.

🥣 PROATS SO EASY 🥣

This recipe was born out of one simple goal...

I wanted my children to be able to make their own breakfast before school, and I wanted to know they were eating something that would actually keep them full.

Not a bowl of sugary cereal.
Not a slice of toast and one egg
A breakfast with real ingredients, plenty of protein and fibre, that only needs hot water.

After lots of testing, this is the recipe we all love...

🍎 Apple Cinnamon Proats So Easy (Makes about 10 servings)

Blend
4 cups oats
8 tsp flaxseeds

Add everything to a mixing bowl
4 scoops @metalabofficial Bridge Vanilla Milk Whey Protein (using the 34 g scoop that comes with the tub)
4 scoops Klim milk powder (using the same 34 g scoop for consistency)
4 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp salt
4 medium apples(Optional) dehydrated and blended. I just used fresh, found dehydrating apples in the air-fryer a little too time consuming)

To serve:
Add 80-100 g of the mix to a bowl, pour over boiling water, stir well and leave to stand for 2–3 minutes.

Approximate nutrition per 100 g serving:
💪 24 g protein
🌾 7 g fibre
🔥 ~300 kcal

Don't think you will find anything like this in a box. So maybe an upgrade from Pronutro and Future life😉

💛 A little note: I haven't tested this recipe with any other protein powders. I developed it using MetaLab Bridge Vanilla Milk Whey Protein, and we love the creamy vanilla flavour it gives the porridge.

The best part? My children genuinely enjoy it. They can make it themselves before school, and I know they're starting the day with a balanced breakfast that's designed to keep them satisfied for longer.

Just to tell you that buying good quality kitchen equipment is important!!!🤣😝

You use it every day, make sure it lasts for years!

I find it so frustrating cooking in self catering units on holiday and even at other people's homes. If your basic small kitchen equipment is not up to scratch
You are making your work so much harder in the kitchen.

Don't expect your teen to peel potatoes and carrots fast and easy if they are using an old, blunt peeler.

Some of my kitchen equipment is over 20 years old and still going strong. Because I invested in good quality early on.😉Shoutout to @oxo and @victorinox!!

These are some of the recipes we made in our Cooking Club the past year.

Each recipe is tested, styled, photographed and recorded by me.

When choosing recipes for our cooking club our community gets involved with voting for recipes they would like to learn to make.

All of the recipes need be made in one hour or less.
Needs to be budget-friendly
Should be nutritious
Need to be made with minimal equipment.
All the recipes have only 6 steps or less.

And it always follows the same structure: Mostly main meals, one breakfast, one 'fake-away meal and one baking challenge. This way we get to cover a large variety of skills.

Most cooking classes for children get stuck on cupcakes, pizza and pasta. In our Cooking Club we cover so much more.

6 months of cooking club musings...

Thank you to our 40 founding member families who bought into my slightly out-of-the-box idea. Every founder has a story, and every startup has highs and lows.

The highs ❤️

• Food has a way of crossing barriers. Our members come from different cultures, countries and backgrounds, speaking different languages, yet everyone joins because the love of food.

• Every recipe teaches more than cooking. Hidden inside each lesson are bits of history, geography, science, nutrition, maths and creativity.

• Our online hub now contains a growing library of 20 recipes, videos and downloadable resources.

• Choosing recipes each term has become a team sport. Members help shape and vote on the menu, making this a club built with families, not just for families.

• Many people still remember the recipes they made in Home Economics class. My hope is that years from now our members will still be pulling out their recipe folders to make family favourites.

• Our youngest members are two adorable sisters aged 5 and 6, cooking alongside their mom. Our oldest member is 79. (Thanks Mom ❤️)

• There is room for many more families at our table.

• Best of all, this work fits beautifully around my own family life, and I hope it will one day create opportunities for other teachers too.

The hard parts 💛

• Self-doubt often creeps in when the financial results don't yet reflect the years of knowledge, experience, ideas and effort poured into something.

• Patience doesn't come naturally to me, but I hold tightly to the bigger vision.

• One of the hardest lessons of entrepreneurship is discovering that support doesn't always come from the people you expect. It's been a bitter pill to swallow at times.

To the friends who have joined, shared, encouraged and cheered me on- thank you. I see you and appreciate you more than words can say.

We're now just 10 members away from our goal of 50 founding members.

STUDY SNACK SEASON IS HERE 🧠💪 We are all knee dee

STUDY SNACK SEASON IS HERE 🧠💪

We are all knee deep in exam time right now, and let’s be honest-snacking is high on the priority list between studying, revising, and trying to keep energy levels up 😅

As a mom feeding my own teens (and with most of my cooking club students also being teens), I’ve been thinking a lot about simple snack ideas that actually help support focus and energy during this time.

Here are some ideas for smarter study snacks:

🥜 Combining high fibre + high protein foods can help keep you fuller for longer and support more stable energy levels during study sessions
🧠 Protein-rich foods like yoghurt, milk, eggs, biltong, chickpeas, nuts and edamame help with satiety and focus
🌾 Fibre-rich foods like fruit, oats, popcorn and legumes help slow down energy release and reduce crashes
🍫 A small treat element (like dark chocolate or marshmallows) can still fit in- it’s all about balance and portion awareness
⚡ The goal is not perfection, but better fuel choices that support your brain during long study hours

Portions are based on 1 block of chocolate/one cookie/30g of biltong, 3 cups of popcorn, handful of nuts, 1 cup yogurt. 30g St Annas and one BabyBelle Cheese, half an avocado.

Eating the whole slab or a whole bag of chips is not portion control:)
